Redemption Kids is a service to help kids love Jesus, make friends, and enjoy church.
Junior bible quiz
We want our kids at Redemption to hide God’s word in their hearts. One way we do this is through Junior Bible Quiz (JBQ). JBQ was created and designed to help children develop a love for the Bible and an understanding that the Bible is God’s word- it is inspired, accurate, and our perfect guide in life.
We believe Junior Bible Quiz lays a solid foundation for our kids to know Christ and follow Him their whole lives. JBQ has been foundational for many of our adults here at Redemption and we want to continue to uphold our church’s responsibility of creating a gospel-centered environment where children learn about Jesus and enjoy coming to church.
We also know that the friendships that are developed through JBQ are so important and their teammates will become their church family. JBQ also stresses the importance of teamwork and good study habits. It helps teach children how to win humbly, lose graciously, and teaches important disciplines at an early age.

The material we quiz over is called the Bible Fact Pak - a finite set of 576 questions covering people, places, events, and teachings of the Bible.
The questions are divided according to point values (10, 20, & 30), and difficulty, with 30 point questions the most difficult, and 10 point questions the least difficult. Each point value includes questions covering basic Bible content, Scripture memorization, and theology. There are 288 10 point questions, 192 20 point questions, and 96 30 point questions in the Fact Pak.

JBQ gives parents a simple but meaningful way to start or continue to disciple their children and raise kids who know Jesus and follow Him their whole lives. Whether it’s in the car, at dinner, or before bed, 15-20 minutes a day of JBQ practice a day will prove to be effective and fun!
Kids will be assigned a specific set of questions to learn for each meet. These will be what families will be memorizing at home. Once they have mastered their specific set of questions, families are welcomed and encouraged to learn above and beyond those certain cards.
Parents are crucial to making JBQ a successful season. At weekly practices, we will need Coaches (adults) to lead, encourage, and guide teams, as well as Assistants (adults or youth volunteers) to help with keeping order in the room, leading games/activities, and testing quizzer’s knowledge.
At JBQ meets, each JBQ family will plan to volunteer at 2 meets during the season. We are required to have 2 adults to work as officials, per team, each meet. (For example, if we have 3 teams, we will need 6 officials total per meet, in addition to the coaches.)
There are three types of officials at meets: Quizmaster, Scorekeeper, & Timekeeper/Judge. The Scorekeeper and Timekeeper/Judge will travel between matches with the team. The Quizmaster will not travel with the team and is responsible for administrating each match. Quizmasters are usually experienced in JBQ. You will be given instructions on how to perform the duties of your role prior to the meet and additional instruction at the beginning of the meet.

There are usually 6-8 quiz matches in each quiz meet. Usually they are complete between 12-1pm. Parents are welcome to bring light snacks and drinks for their children to consume between matches.
The State meet will be held on March 21-22. The location is TBD. This event will require an overnight stay in a hotel near the meet. The state meet is a really fun and exciting event, and we encourage you to plan your work schedule, now, to enable you to attend. Last season the Redemption team placed 5th overall in the State meet!

Memory Verses
We want our kids at Redemption to hide God’s word in their hearts. One way we do this is through monthly memory verses. On Sunday mornings, we focus on memory verses by practicing them with hand motions, songs, games, and coloring pages.
You can help your kid hide God’s word in their heart too by using the resources below as well as our Memory Verse Cards to practice them at the dinner table, in the car, or before bed!
